YOU ARE ALWAYS ASSURED OF A WARM WELCOME AT
THE COUNTY BOWLING CLUB

The Club is friendly and welcoming, with over 125 years of history.  We are affiliated to the Southampton and District Bowling Association (S&D), to Bowls Hampshire, and to the English Indoor Bowling Association (EIBA).

We have both mens and ladies teams who play competitively in several Southampton and Hampshire based leagues, and we also run several mixed leagues within the club.  In addition, we organise our own competitions or, for the less competitive, you can join in with the regular "Roll-Ups" and "Spoons",  which are a great way of meeting other bowling club members. Coaches will be on hand to assist new players to develop their skills.

We also play many friendly games against both local and visiting clubs throughout the summer season, usually on Wednesdays and at weekends.

The club is open for outdoor bowling only, between mid April and late September every year. We also play a number of representative indoor matches at other local clubs during the close season.

The Club hold lots of social events during the year, such as our annual Open Day, the Annual Dinner and Prize and our Christmas Dinner.   In addition we have regular social evenings such as quizzes, skittles and even camel racing.  We also organise regular bowling holidays, both in the UK and in Europe, such as the one pictured here to the Algarve in 2011.   This year (2018) we will be visiting Weston-super-Mare in March.

The Club was founded in 1889 by a group of businessmen headed by Edwin Jones, our first president, whose Southampton store many will remember.  It has a lovely south facing pavilion that retains most of the original features.  As well as a patio area, a veranda provides covered seating for spectators.

Please browse our web site to find out more about the County Bowling Club, or come along at any time  for a free trial and tuition during the season (mid-April to mid-September).

Tuesday mornings from 10:00 a.m are always "Open Days" for potential new members to come along and try their hand at bowling. Please call in advance if possible.
